Located deep in the forested valleys of the Périgord region in France, the picturesque village of Brantôme is known as the “Venice of Périgord” for a good reason. The medieval town is surrounded by waterways, with ancient stone bridges providing the only access to this historic little island.
Le Moulin de l’Abbaye Hotel sits on the edge of the river, giving breathtaking panoramic views of the town and the 6th century Abbey founded by Charlemagne. As a member of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux group, and with its own Michelin Starred restaurant, Le Moulin is the perfect starting point for discovering the world-renowned cuisine of the Périgord, and the stunning scenery of Dordogne.
The Abbey Mill is a hotel comprised of 3 historical buildings:
• The old Mill that has had different uses throughout its history: grinding grain, spinning and weaving wool and even producing electricity for the village
• The Miller’s house situated at the entrance of the caves, a few meters away from the Mill
• The Abbey house on the other side of the river, 300m away from the Mill, dating back to the XIIIth century in which Pierre de Boudeilles, abbey and lord of Brantôme, lived.
Le Moulin de l’Abbaye has 20 rooms, all with their own individual decoration and charm. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, a safe, a mini-bar, a flat screen TV and an I-phone station.
Internet access is also available and free throughout the hotel. For extra 4* comfort, all rooms have a King Size bed with the possibility of having two beds (on demand). The prestige rooms feature their own private terraces, with sunbeds and jacuzzi, overlooking the river and gardens.
In 2017, head chef Loic Lecoin won his first Michelin Star at Le Moulin de l’Abbaye for his menus inspired by local cuisine and produce. His exciting dishes evolve with the seasons, making use of the freshest ingredients when they are at their best.
The restaurant has an elegant room for inside dining, as well as an outside terrace and gardens, both bathed in sun in the warmer months; The perfect spot for savouring one of the restaurant’s many fine wines.
The Hotel also has its own bar, which is decorated with the plush atmosphere of an English lounge. Perfect for a single malt whisky nightcap.
